The Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company responded to Lake Zoar in Monroe Sunday to rescue a deer that had fallen through the ice.
They say the deer was approximately 500 feet out, halfway across the lake.
A firefighter hooked a tether and pulled his way out in an attempt to rescue the deer.
Once he was close, the deer freed itself and ran out of the water.
