Flooding washed out the Double Up Dance Studio in Fairfield last week, causing major damage that's still getting cleaned up.
The brothers who own it, Paul and Brian Herman, say it began last Tuesday when a storm blasted the area. They say they'd never had flooding problems before in the three years they've been there.
But last week, water came up through the floor from a main line beneath, flooding the building in minutes.
Workers had to move out all of the furniture and tear up the floors. The walls also have water damage.
"When I first walked into the building, my heart dropped," Paul Herman says. "That's first off."
Brian Herman says he couldn't even process the situation.
"I couldn't even think," he says.
Community members have come to help with cleaning supplies and a GoFundMe page that's raised more than $7,000 so far. The brothers also have insurance, but they say they don't know how much it will cover.
