The friend of a Bronx man accused of trying to provide material support to the Islamic State group says he detected some warning signs.
Dan Lora, who grew up in Norwood near Sajmir Alimehmeti, says the two have been friends for around 12 years.
As News 12 has reported, Alimehmeti was arrested by the Joint Terrorism Task Force on Tuesday.
Lora says Alimehmeti, who was once outgoing and could often be seen riding a bike or playing basketball around the neighborhood, became isolated and acted strange.
"He was almost like a different person," Lora says. "He was dressing differently. His appearance was different, and just in general his personality turned a little more colder."
Despite the change in his friend, Lora says he was still shocked to learn of Alimehmeti's arrest.
