Thousands of police and U.S. military service officers were in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City for a U.S. soldier and NYPD detective killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan.
Members of the Weston Police Department were in attendance for the funeral of Detective Joseph Lemm.
The 45-year-old Westchester resident was a technical sergeant in the Air Guard's 105th Base Security Squadron and a 15-year member of the NYPD. He was killed last Monday when his patrol was attacked by a suicide bomber outside Bagram Air Base.
Lemm leaves behind a wife, a 17-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son.
Several other departments in southwestern Connecticut also had officers at the funeral.
