An 11-year-old in Greenwich is using her baking skills to help children in Ukraine.
Tessa Addeo, a sixth grader at Eastern Middle School, is baking homemade apple tortes to raise money for Save The Children, a nonprofit based in Fairfield that is actively working on the ground to help families in Ukraine.
Addeo started her baking business, T Cakes, during the pandemic. She says when she heard about the children suffering in Ukraine, she wanted to help.
"At school, we were learning about what was happening in Ukraine because we were learning about eastern Europe. And I also saw on the news how the children had to hide in the bomb shelters and I found that very heartbreaking to me,” she said. “I couldn't imagine leaving my house with my sister Aria and my parents.”
Addeo has raised over $350 for Save The Children so far.
