Greenwich officials met Friday to discuss preparations for what is expected to be the first major snowstorm this year in southwestern Connecticut.

Officials say that based on current models, they expect Greenwich to receive the most snow in the area. In addition to snow, First Selectman Peter Tesei says that coastal flooding is a major concern.

Dan Warzoha, of Greenwich Emergency Management, says the town has made improvements to its beaches following the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy. The town's conservationists will be monitoring the tides during the storm.

There will also be police officers patrolling the road on Saturday, keeping an eye on flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

Tesei says Eversource Energy told him that it will be on standby should any power outages occur. He also says that two shelters have been set up if anyone needs to evacuate due to flooding.

In case of an emergency, residents are encouraged to call public safety dispatch.
