Hempstead station among 8 of MTA's new COVID-19 vaccination sites

259ds agoWednesday marks the first day some commuters can get the COVID-19 vaccine on the go.
The MTA is opening eight new pop-up vaccination sites, including one at the Hempstead train station. You can get the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine there from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Shots are also being offered from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grand Central's Vanderbilt Hall, and at Penn Station from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome on a first come, first served basis.
Mobile units and tents will be set up at the locations, where anyone 16 or older can get the Johnson & Johnson shot.
State officials say the efforts will get 300 people vaccinated per day.
The pop-up sites will be open through Sunday.
Those who get the shot will be offered free round-trip train tickets or a seven-day MetroCard.
