Family and friends said their final goodbyes today to Victoria Soto, the first-grade teacher who died trying to save the lives of her students.
The 27-year-old Stratford native was able to save some of their lives by using her training and instincts.
Soto's family says it was her lifelong dream to become a teacher. News 12 Connecticut was told that the Soto graduated from Stratford High School and Eastern Connecticut State University.
Today, the university announced the creation of a scholarship in Soto's honor for students studying to be teachers.
