Officials at homeless shelters across southwestern Connecticut say they're filled to capacity this holiday season.
Jeffrey Oakes says his family has been living out of his vehicle the last 10 days.
He says the shelters he's gone to have turned him and his children away.
Oakes says he is a website developer, but has not been earning enough money lately to make ends meet.
He says when the Department of Children and Families learned his kids were living out of a car, they took his two youngest children into state custody.
Officials at local homeless shelters say they simply don't have enough space to accommodate large families.
