A Norwalk man who received a double organ transplant is back home months after waiting for a compatible donor.
It's been a long 9 1/2 months since Jimmy Nuzzo was last home.
The Norwalk community came together Saturday to give Nuzzo a homecoming.
"It just made me feel, I don't know, loved like supported. I just want to hug everybody, and I can't," he said.
News 12 shared that Nuzzo was at Boston's Mass General in August in dire need of two organs - a heart and a liver.
On Feb. 11, Nuzzo went into a 21-hour surgery for a double organ transplant.
He says he would not have made it through without his wife, Lisa Nuzzo, and they're both thankful for their community for standing with him.
"Amazing, with their support and fundraisers, it got us through it," said Nuzzo.
He says he does not know who the donor was but hopes to be able to meet the family one day.
