Bronx residents in the 16th City Council District got to see new trash cans lining the streets on Friday.
The "green machines" are specially designed to keep rodents out, while keeping trash in. Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson promoted the new cans on Jerome Avenue near 170th Street. She says the new trash cans represent the pride people should have in their community.
"We're so grateful that this is the second year in which we're funding additional services for sanitation, for cleanup; and we know that we all must contribute to the overall cleanliness of our neighborhoods," Gibson says.
Councilman Andy King introduced similar cans in the 12th City Council District earlier this week.
