Stratford police are working to determine whether two human skulls discovered in a landfill were taken during a grave robbery 14 years ago.
The skulls were found last week at the Stamford Transfer Station after they were cleaned out of the room of a man who had lived and died in Fairfield.
Now, police believe they may have determined the skulls' origins.
The graves of a deceased husband and wife were reportedly robbed about 14 years ago in St. Michael's Cemetery on Stratford Avenue. Their skulls were stolen.
Police say it will take several weeks to determine a DNA match.
