Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz signed legislation today banning child marriage.

The law says if someone is under 18, they cannot be married. Currently, the age is 16.

Lawmakers previously discussed the dangers of child marriage.

Bysiewicz signed the legislation on Gov. Ned Lamont's behalf.

Lamont is at an economic development mission out of state.
