Local business owners were told to keep their storefront doors closed on Monday, as officers investigated what was said to be a bomb threat.
Bridgeport police say 50-year-old Henry Orr got into an argument with people near the Social Security office. During the argument, police say Orr claimed his bag had a bomb in it. Police say he left the building, walked down the street in front of the Summit Women's Center on Main Street and dropped his bag before officers arrested him, prompting a full-fledged alert.
The bomb squad and Homeland Security were present when the bag was opened; it was determined that the contents of the bag were papers and clothes.
Officers say Orr has been arrested and faces charges of breach of peace and threatening acts of terrorism.
