The mother of a Bridgeport teen who was shot to death this year spoke publicly today for the first time about the arrest of his alleged killer.
"We'll never be healed, but just to have some type of closure that somebody is going to pay for my son's lost life, is gratifying to me," said Victoria Padilla, Thompson's mother.
Justin Thompson, 14, was shot to death nearly one year ago while walking with friends.
Police arrested 18-year-old Laheem Jones, of Bridgeport, yesterday and charged him in Thompson's murder.
Court records indicate that Jones was assigned to kill Thompson and had made an initial attempt a few days earlier.
Jones is currently being held on a $1 million bond.
