The Monroe fire chief says without the quick action of a neighbor and the rapid response of firefighters, the damage to a home caused by a fire would have been much worse.
A neighbor walking on William Henry Drive saw the side of a home on fire just before 5 p.m. Saturday and called authorities.
Upon arrival, firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire. Crews also ventilated the attached garage, which was full of smoke.
They say there was only limited damage to the living areas of the home, which were unoccupied when the fire started.
Firefighters say the fire was "unintentional."
