Welfare recipients in the Bronx are set to receive their first benefits increase in nearly two decades.
The increase is part of Gov. David Paterson's budget. Beginning this month, a family of three will get $30 more in their monthly checks. For a family of four, the increase is $40.
Welfare benefits are also expected to rise incrementally in 2010 and 2011.
