The brother of a Stamford man who was killed in a 2017 Bridgeport shooting held an anti-violence rally in New Haven on Sunday.
Wilner Joseph said the theme of the rally which was held on the New Haven Green was simple: "No more silence, end gun violence."
Groups from Bridgeport and Stamford were also among the demonstrators.
The rally happened after a string of recent killings in New Haven.
"A 13-year-old was arrested recently for allegedly killing a 15-year-old kid. A 13-year-old. When I was 13 years old, do you know what I was doing? I was playing basketball, I was doing karate. My main focus was sports and playing outside with my friends, not thinking about killing another human being at 13 years old," Joseph said. "We need to create a forum to really find out what exactly is bothering these kids, the fact that they have got to go out here and kill another human being."
Million Dollar Smile and Hoops 4 All were among the groups that sponsored the rally.
