Norwalk election officials say they're ready to count every vote and deliver a clean result in November amid remarks from President Donald Trump during Tuesday night's presidential debate.
Trump refused to pledge that he will accept the results of the November election, claiming increased mail voting will open the door for large-scale fraud.
City officials say they had to build a system from the ground up to handle more than 10 times the usual absentee ballots.
Volunteers Wednesday prepared the first batch of ballots to be sent to voters. Town Clerk Rick McQuaid says applications are checked and double-checked for fraud or mistakes.
Officials say if you do have to vote in person, they will create a safe environment for you to do so. They say whether in-person or by mail, every vote will be counted and every vote matters.
Officials say mailed ballots do take longer to count, which could mean a longer delay for this year's election results.
