Norwalk police: Roads reopen following protests on highway
Protest activity led to road closures in Norwalk Saturday evening, according to police.
Police say the area of South Main Street near police headquarters in Norwalk was closed and urged people to avoid the area. Roadways were reopened Saturday evening before 9 p.m.
Photos posted to social media earlier appeared to show people on the highway. Images from traffic cameras showed vehicles being diverted near Exit 13.
Police said that a protest was being held Saturday on East Avenue in Norwalk. Earlier Saturday, Rep. Jim Himes' office said he would be joining students and community members for a protest in Norwalk.
