A Bridgeport couple is mourning the loss of their 10-year-old daughter after she drowned in Lake Mohegan Tuesday night.

Catherine Celina Perez Trujillo was swimming with her family in the north side of the lake when she slipped out of her mother?s grasp, going under water near the cascades. Trujillo's body was not recovered until 45 minutes later by a Fairfield Police Dive Team member.

Police say the area the family was swimming in is off limits to swimmers. The family says a funeral Mass will be held on Monday at St. Peter's Church in Bridgeport. They are asking for the public's help in covering the funeral expenses.
