Petition calls on Fairfield University to be more outspoken about civil rights

An online petition named Black Stags Matter, which has thousands of signatures, is calling on Fairfield University to be more outspoken about civil rights.
Tuesday was Stagsgiving Day, which brings alumni together to raise money for the school. A group of alumni say the school isn't doing enough to address racism.
The petition says that students want officials to speak out about the Black Lives Matter movement and includes a list of changes they want to see on campus.
These include spending more money on programs that address injustice, making changes to the curriculum to include more material on racism and revisiting the culture on campus and disciplinary system.
Petition supporters say the school hasn't even responded to their requests.
Fairfield University sent News 12 a statement saying the university's mission is fundamentally about the promotion of justice, and that they support students of every background in a number of ways.
The alumni who created the petition say they want to meet with officials.
