Police: 2 people hit by SUV in Westport remain hospitalized, driver released

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Westport police say the two people hit by a SUV on Imperial Avenue Wednesday remain hospitalized Friday.
Police say a 33-year-old Easton man is in stable condition while a 29-year-old Fairfield woman is in critical condition.
As News 12 reported, the SUV was driving toward Post Road East when it veered onto the sidewalk and struck the pair as they were walking.
The driver knocked down parking signs and hit a wall before coming to a stop in the intersection.
The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
Police say the driver has been released from the hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
