A 79-year-old man was struck by a pickup truck near Stamford High School Friday, police say.
The incident happened on Strawberry Hill Avenue near Stamford High School around 6:30 a.m.
Police say Strawberry Hill Avenue was closed the road to traffic in both directions due to the incident, but later reopened at 7:45 a.m.
The man was struck by a pickup truck while he was inside of the crosswalk by the high school, police say.
He was taken to the hospital in stable condition and is expected to be OK.
Police say the driver of the car did stop and told police he did not see the man walking in the crosswalk because the signal lights were not active.
The driver of the car was cited for failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The incident prompted a closure of the area and traffic built up but school police say school buses were not impacted.
