An alleged armed bank robber hiding in a garbage can was caught by Woodbridge police Friday morning.
Police say the unidentified suspect was wearing a mask when he robbed the TD Bank on Amity Road just as they were opening up for the day.
Chief Frank Cappiello says officers tracked the suspect using GPS on the Merritt Parkway and onto Route 34.
A police K-9 unit eventually led officers to the trash can, where the suspect thought he could hide. Police also recovered all of the stolen money.
The incident placed Amity Junior High-Middle School, Hebrew Day School and Racebrook School in lockdown.
The bank reopened Friday afternoon.
