A Bridgeport man accidently shot himself in the hand while cleaning his gun, police say.

The incident happened after 10 p.m. Monday on Lourmel Sreet.

Police say they were contacted by St. Vincent's Medical Center after the man showed up in the ER with a gunshot wound.

Police say after speaking with the man they learned of the accidental shooting.

Police did not say if the man would face any charges.
