Police arrested the owner of a Stamford day care center Monday in connection with the death of a baby girl.
Nydia Carrillo-Maldonado, 35, of Little Bears Beginnings Daycare, has been charged with manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor.
Police say they received a call on July 12 that 2-month-old Bella Redondo was having breathing problems. Police say the girl died as a result of severe head trauma.
Officials have not released whether the incident was accidental or intentional. They say the day care center was immediately closed following the girl's death.
Police say the day care had some state violations, but none of them were criminal in nature.
Carillo-Maldonado has been placed under a $200,000 bond and will appear in court August 22.
