An infant was fatally struck by a vehicle in Danbury Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they received the call around 2 p.m. and officers were dispatched to a home on Shelter Rock Road.

The child, who officials say was under a year old, was transported to the hospital, where they died of their injuries.

Names will not be released out of respect for the family, police say.

Authorities say the incident appears to be accidental.
