Police: Sea Cliff man accused of assaulting officer during traffic stop

One officer was injured as the suspect become violent and combative while resisting arrest.

A Sea Cliff man accused of assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop was arrested Thursday in Glenwood Landing, according to authorities.
Detectives say officers saw a Toyota speeding near Prospect Avenue and Little Worth Lane just before 11 a.m.
The driver sped away as officers approached and attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the car stopped near an intersection shortly after.
Police say 49-year-old Milton Viana proceeded to exit the vehicle and try to flee on foot.
One officer was injured as he become violent and combative while resisting arrest.
The officer was hospitalized and is expected to be OK, according to authorities.
Viana faces charges including assault, unlawful fleeing, obstructing governmental administration, criminal mischief, reckless driving, resisting arrest and multiple vehicle traffic infractions.
