Residents for and against a proposed mosque in Norwalk came to special zoning meeting tonight to speak their minds on the issue.
The proposed Norwalk Islamic Center would be located at 127 Fillow St. near North Taylor Avenue.
Supporters of the mosque wore shirts that read "Supports the Mosque" while those against the building wore buttons reading "Keep 127 Fillow St. Residential."
Supporters say that the Muslim population has grown, yet there is no mosque in the city.
Residents against the project say they are concerned that the building with around 90 parking sports would create traffic issues.
Those on both sides of the issue agreed that some may just not want a mosque near their home.
The Norwalk Planning and Zoning Commission says it will hold another special session over the issue at a later date.
