State authorities say a Redding woman faces animal cruelty charges in connection with the death of a dog in her care.
Investigators say the woman's dog attacked and killed another dog she was watching two months ago.
Kathryn Stergue, 49, was taking care of a Ridgefield family's pet while they were on vacation. State Animal Control officials blame her 4-year-old mixed-breed dog for the attack.
Stergue operates a home-based boarding facility called Katie's Critter Care on Redding Road. Officials say it was not licensed as a commercial kennel, and her dog was not licensed or vaccinated.
The state says it has a website for pet owners to check to see whether boarding facilities are licensed.
A court has barred Stergue from keeping animals on her property during the case.
