Bridgeport police responding to a report of shots fired found something else alarming in an apartment building this morning.
Officials say when police arrived at the building on Poplar Street they discovered a gas leak. 
Residents were evacuated from their apartments for about an hour around 2 a.m.
The gas company gave the all clear around 3 a.m., and everyone was let back inside. No word on the cause of the leak.
