Parents and students in Westport say they're seeing long delays, missed stops and other issues amid the current bus driver shortage.
Parents tell News 12 that it takes some students over an hour to get home and, in one case, the bus didn't show up at all.
Westport parents say the staffing problem only seems to be getting worse. Kelly Freitag says her son waited for 45 minutes after the bell for the bus to pick him up from school one day.
Bus companies already facing staffing shortages are also feeling the effects of some employees pushing back against vaccine mandates.
Representatives from Dattco say the bus company is doing its best amid a statewide labor shortage. They ask parents to be patient with them and, above all, be kind to the bus drivers who have been showing up.
News 12 reached out to Westport's superintendent for comment.
