Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Sunday he wants answers about the death of a Bridgeport soldier who was killed during training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
Military officials say 25-year-old Jeremiah Crawley was declared dead at Womack Army Medical Center on March 9 following training at a base rifle range.
They say the exact cause of death is still under investigation.
"We know for sure that Sgt. Jeremiah Crawley died in the line of duty in training and that he's a hero, but we want to know exactly what happened and that's what I'm going to be demanding, that the United States Army tell us what it is doing to investigate and when it's going to conclude," Blumenthal said.
The soldier's family told News 12 Connecticut they are "in full support" of Blumenthal's call for answers about their loved one's death.
Crawley was laid to rest at Bridgeport's Park Cemetery on Friday.
