A Stamford police officer is facing charges for stealing money from the department, according to police.
Officer Donald Chen, who is in the Army Reserves, was scheduled to serve for two weeks at the start of December.
But according to authorities, Chen never reported for military duty and instead was vacationing in Hawaii.
Investigators say he has been charged with theft.
Police tell News 12 Connecticut that Chen originally tried to lie to them and claimed he was in Taiwan for a family emergency. They say he eventually confessed and resigned from the department.
