The State's Attorney's Office announced no criminal charges will be filed against the off-duty Ridgefield police officer who fatally shot a black bear.
As News 12 reported, the incident went viral on social media back in May when the Ridgefield officer shot and killed the bear, which came to be known as "Bobbi."
Officials say their investigation found the bear had come on the property multiple times and had become "habituated," meaning it had lost its fear of humans and came to depend on them for food.
The bear's two cubs were taken to a rescue until they can be released back into the wild.
