Scattered flurries can linger through the day but will not lead to additional accumulation. Just use some extra caution with a few slippery areas around this morning, especially on residential roads.

Long Island did get scattered light snow showers very early this morning. Most of any accumulating snow is over, but flurries can linger much of the day. This did lead to coatings of snow so please use caution on sidewalks and driving on side streets as those areas can be a little slippery in spots.

The rest of today will be mostly cloudy with a few off and on flurries. High temperatures will average close to around 35, so the little bit of snow that did fall will melt during the day.

While there can be scattered areas of black ice tonight into Sunday morning, those should be limited. Otherwise, mostly clear, breezy and cold tonight with lows around 25.

Tomorrow and Monday will be nice winter days with a mostly sunny sky and highs around 40.

A colder stretch of weather does move back in for Tuesday through Thursday next week! It will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds, but high temperatures will be in the low 30s with wind chills in the teens and 20s during this stretch.

Beyond Thursday, temperatures warm up a bit! High temperatures will be in the upper 30s to low 40s Friday through next weekend.

There is the chance for rain at this point moving in next weekend. Depending on the evolution of that weather system, some mixing cannot be ruled out, but this looks like mostly rain at this time. The News 12 Storm Watch Team will monitor this for you through next week!
