The attorney for Fotis Dulos offered a new theory Tuesday about the death of Jennifer Dulos and explained why his client was seen on camera disposing evidence.
In court, Norm Pattis unsuccessfully tried to convince Judge Gary White to allow his client's murder case to go forward even though Fotis Dulos is dead. Pattis said he wanted a trial to clear Fotis Dulos' name.
Pattis outlined the theory he would have pursued at trial. He told the court Jennifer Dulos was killed by a third party unrelated to her estranged husband and that person dumped the bloody evidence in Fotis Dulos' yard.
The attorney said Fotis Dulos "panicked" after finding the items, so he threw them out in a Hartford neighborhood.
Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend Michelle Troconis were later caught by surveillance cameras in Hartford tossing items stained with Jennifer Dulos' blood. The two were charged with evidence tampering in June and again a few months later.
Pattis would not discuss whom he believes killed Jennifer Dulos.
The revelation came just before the charges against Fotis Dulos were dropped due to his suicide.

The New Canaan mother of five was last seen dropping her kids off at school on the morning of May 24.
Court documents show police believe her estranged husband was lying in wait in the garage and attacked her when she returned home.
Jennifer Dulos' body has never been found but in January, the state charged Fotis Dulos with killing her.
Weeks later Fotis Dulos missed a court hearing that likely would've sent him back to jail. He was discovered unresponsive in his garage due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
"It is our hope that we will someday, somewhere, get a fact finder to listen to all the facts, all the evidence in this case because when it happens, they will conclude Mr. Dulos was not only not guilty of a crime, but was himself a victim of a conspiracy so immense that in the end, it drove him to despair and to take his own life," Pattis said.
Pattis said after court that he will ask Fotis Dulos' estate for permission to appeal Tuesday's decision.
The cases against Fotis Dulos' co-defendants will move forward. Troconis and Mawhinney are both charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
