Police say a Stratford High School student is in intensive care after he was attacked on school grounds.

Police say the attack occurred as the boy was waiting for a bus Friday after school let out.

The student's family says he is a sophomore at the school and they believe his attackers are fellow students. Stratford High School's principal says there are several suspects, but would not say whether they are students.

The victim's family says he has a severe concussion, a broken rib and an injury to his spine. They spent most of Monday at the hospital.

Extra police officers and a security guard were on hand at the school.
