Don't get too friendly with wild geese, one local ecologist is telling residents.
Peter Fraboni of Wesport's Harbor Watch River Watch Project says too much goose feces could create a legitimate problem in the area by elevating E. coli levels in local waterways. Higher levels of bacteria would be bad for anyone who uses the water, but especially for boaters, swimmers and fishermen.
Fraboni says the geese aren't going anywhere anytime soon. He advises residents simply discourage the fowl from gathering and making themselves at home.
"The best thing to do is not to feed them," says Fraboni.
