The demand for the COVID-19 vaccine is leading to a new type of tourism.
Many people across the tri-state are now traveling to other states in hopes of securing a shot.
News 12's senior investigative reporter Tara Rosenblum caught up with a flight attendant from Westchester who traveled to Chicago earlier this month, where he's considered an essential worker and there is no residency requirement. "It was definitely frustrating not to be able to get an appointment in New York… [In Chicago] I went to the pharmacy, pretty easy. They just gave me the vaccine."
Tonight at 10 p.m. News 12's investigation team will dive deeper into vaccine tourism and tell us which states allow it. The team also reached out to the health departments in all 50 states to create a first-of-its-kind database.
