A Westport artist is creating the crucifix that will stand behind Pope Francis in Philadelphia.
Larry Hoy has been working nonstop on the crucifix that will be seen by tens of millions of people during Sunday's mass.
Hoy has been working every day for the past couple of weeks. The gilding on the pope's cross is not the usual 23 karat gold, but composite gold. Hoy says Pope Francis did not want real gold because he is so humble.
"You have to have the patience of Job," says Hoy, who has created fixtures for two previous papal visits.
Hoy has to deliver the crucifix to Philadelphia by Wednesday.
