Swimmers in Westport started 2013 off with a plunge into the cold water at Compo Beach to raise money for a good cause.
Organizers say the water was just 44 degrees this morning, but that didn't stop new and returning participants from taking part. Swimmers say the plunge is an exhilarating way to start the new year.
The event raised money for the Save the Children Foundation.
