Wilton Public Schools' Board of Education announced Tuesday that it will start the school year remotely.
A photo of students socializing over the weekend was posted to Facebook, where it went viral. School officials say a number of factors went into the decision they made.
They say that the first week of school will be virtual and have shorter days to allow teachers to get comfortable with the technology they're using to teach in the classroom or online.
Other factors included technology not being available yet and the rise of COVID-19 cases in Danbury, which is right next door.
