Friends and family are coming together to share their memories of a Bridgeport woman who suffered fatal injuries when she was hit by a car last week.
The crash happened at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Barnum Avenue last Wednesday. Police say Sandra Vilsaint, 31, was struck by a car while crossing the street.
Despite being in good spirits following the incident, Vilsaint had suffered what turned out to be a serious head injury and was declared brain dead Sunday at Bridgeport Hospital.
Police say that no charges have been filed against the driver who hit Vilsaint, but they are still investigating.
According to investigators, her death marks the third pedestrian fatality in the city in the past six weeks. In all three cases, the victims did not properly use crosswalks, they say.
