FDNY donates smoke alarms to two Connecticut fire departments
The New York City Fire Department donated smoke detectors to departments throughout the Northeast Thursday, including two in Connecticut. In total, 4,500 alarms were distributed to eight departments.

The New York City Fire Department donated smoke detectors to departments throughout the Northeast Thursday, including two in Connecticut.
The Bloomfield Center Fire Department and the Auxiliary-Georgetown Volunteer Fire Co. each received 500 alarms.
In total, 4,500 alarms were distributed to eight departments.
The donation was made in partnership between Kidde and the FDNY Foundation through Kidde's cause for alarm campaign.
Its goal is to make sure vulnerable populations know about fire safety education.
Fire officials say having working smoke detectors save lives and doubles the chances of escaping from a house fire safely.
"We've had 48 fire fatalities in New York City," said Captain Michael Kozo. "In fact, three fatal fires have occurred this week alone. Some of those fires occurred where there were no working smoke alarms or no smoke alarms presented. It is critical that everyone have a working smoke alarm in their home."
