Stamford police: 79-year-old woman seriously hurt after being struck by a car on Forest Street
Police said it happened at the intersection of Prospect Street and Forest Street around 6:30 p.m.
Stamford police say a 79-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured after she was hit by a car on Forest Street on Monday.
Police said it happened at the intersection of Prospect Street and Forest Street around 6:30 p.m.
Officials stated that Mary Botan, a resident of Stamford, was hit by a 2014 Toyota Prius while crossing the street in the crosswalk.
The car was being operated by 25-year-old Tyler Zinko, who is also a Stamford resident.
Police said Zinko was issued a misdemeanor summons at the scene for striking a vulnerable person and causing “serious physical injury.”
Police said Botan suffered a serious head injury and was transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS.
Police said Botan is listed in critical but stable condition.
Officials said Zinko was released from the scene with a summons to appear in court.
Stamford police said speed was not a factor in this incident.
