State police: 2 troopers hit while responding to crash on I-91
State police say Troopers Matthew Cerri and Christopher Genovese were responding to a collision investigation within the right shoulder, north of the Exit 47 off-ramp.

Two Connecticut State Police troopers were hit while they were responding to a crash Thursday, state police say.
It happened around 7 a.m. on I-91 North in Enfield.
State police say Troopers Matthew Cerri and Christopher Genovese were responding to a collision investigation within the right shoulder, north of the Exit 47 off-ramp.
Cars assigned to both were parked within the right shoulder with their emergency lights activated, according to state police. Cerri was in the driver's seat and Genovese was standing near Cerri's Ford when they were hit by an Acura driven by Joel Caica.
Caica drove through an area of standing water in the left lane, causing the vehicle to spin. The Acura spun across the northbound lanes and right shoulder. Once the vehicle entered the right shoulder, it collided with Genovese's car.
Genovoese was projected into the road, state police say. He sustained serious injuries.
Cerri, Caica and the occupants of the Acura had minor to moderate injuries.
All were taken to hospitals.
A state police union spokesperson said it appeared that speed, road conditions and the recent rainfall were all factors.
They urge the public to slow down when they are near troopers and emergency services personnel on the road.
