Powerful storms this weekend left damage and power outages across Brooklyn.

News 12 spoke with East Flatbush residents dealing with the aftermath of storms over the past few days.

Hellmuth Tescorbeth tells News 12 he had to get a rental car after his car was stuck under a tree since Friday.

“I rent this for one week for $500. I don’t know how long I will keep it," said Tescorbeth.

Luckily, cleanup crews came to free up his car. While the car had a broken side mirror and back windshield, he says he's happy he can access it.

“I mean, I’m happy I can get back in. That’s good for me, man," said Tescorbeth.

Just blocks away, Cleda Nichols says residents took matters into their own hands to clear the street until cleanup crews arrived days later.

“We had to clean it up ourselves. It was all here on this across the street," said Nichols.

The New York City Parks Department says they've been working tirelessly to deal with the storm aftermath, prioritizing things like trees in houses and road blockages. A spokesperson says they got more than 2,000 service requests from Friday's storm. In the wake of Sunday and Monday's storms, they said as of Tuesday at 1 p.m., they had 1,056 outages, with 302 of them for downed trees.

Driver Conrad Manning says the downed trees are a road hazard.

“It’s inconvenient because it’s one-sided traffic, so you have to stop, slow down and wait for the other people to pass," said Manning.

The New York City Parks Department says you can report aftermath conditions by calling 311 or the NYC Tree Map.
