Some Bridgeport school students received new bicycles Tuesday during a Christmas giveaway.
Twenty six students from grades K-8 at the Curiale School in Bridgeport received the brand-new bicycles during class.
Officials say one lucky child from each of the school's classrooms was selected.
Seventh-grader Mariah Cotes says she prayed for a bike for Christmas and Tuesday she got one.
Special-education teacher Mimi Nelsen has spear-headed the Christmas bike giveaway for the past six years after she and her husband purchased the first bicycle to raffle off.
"The children really were in need of presents and most of the kids said they wanted bikes for Christmas, so my husband and I bought a bike, and we decided to do a raffle," Nelsen says.
